About Us
Cherry Valley Organics is a certified organic producer of a wide variety of agricultural products. They are located in Cherry Valley (between the towns of Hickory and Burgettstown) Washington County, Pennsylvania, only 20 miles from downtown Pittsburgh! Owner Jodi Danyo (Verbanic) has seen the farm through it's expansion from a one-third acre "urban" farm, to 40 acres over the past 18 years.

On those 40 acres, Cherry Valley Organics produces over 100 varieties of vegetables and specialty greens, over 60 varieties of herbs, and over 300 varieties of specialty cut flowers. In addition, they offer potted plants, herbal teas, and herbal bath & body products, all of which are grown or hand-made at the farm.
Cherry Valley Organics is (as you likely guessed it), a certified organic producer (fruit, herb, vegetable, flower, and potted plant crops). They are also a certified organic processor and handler of dried herbs, dried fruits/vegetables, herbal teas, and flavored vinegars. They are committed to lived sustainability, consciously maintaining their footprint despite expansion, what has included building a packing shed, two unheated high tunnels (for season extension) and a heated greenhouse (for potted plant production and seed starting).

In explaining the organic certification to their customers, Cherry Valley points towards the USDA's definition:

"The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires that anyone who produces, processes or handles organic agricultural products must be certified by a USDA-accredited certifier in order to sell, label, or represent their products as "organic." To become certified, an organic producer, processor, or handler must develop, implement, and maintain an organic system plan. Organic certification is not a guaranty of quality or purity of the product. Rather, it is evidence of the operation's adherence to a prescribed system of agriculture and food production that involves the building and enhancing of the soil naturally, protection of the environment, humane treatment of animals, and avoidance of toxic synthetic substances."
